Personal History
I first began exhibiting dogs 41 years ago and have subsequently titled many Rhodesian Ridgebacks, a Labrador Retriever, Bernese Mountain Dog and a Border Terrier. I am also a trained obedience instructor although I have not instructed for many years. I spent 2 years domiciled in the United States of America with my husband, a veterinarian, whilst he studied in 1989/90. I am currently retired and previously employed in a Management/Nursing position within a Veterinary Surgery and a Management position within a Multi-National Pet Food Company. My husband (a veterinary pathologist) and I have a 25 year old son who is a Police Officer and live on a 8.5 acre property just outside Launceston, Tasmania.
Kennel History
33 years of breed involvement (Rhodesian Ridgebacks) and breeder of 45 Australian Champions, 3 Grand Champions, 2 South African Champions, 1 American Champion; 1 Japanese Champion and Multiple CD, CDX, AD & ET Rhodesian Ridgebacks. I have also had involvement with Labradors, Bernese Mountain Dogs and Border Terriers.
Breeder/owner of Multiple Best Exhibit in Show and Runner-Up Best Exhibit in Show at All Breeds and Specialty level (in Australia and South Africa) including the 2004 Best Ridge in Show at the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the USA National Show from an entry of nearly 100 under three judges (one from the USA, one from South Africa and one from Israel). In 2010 awarded Most Successful Breeder at the 9th Australian Rhodesian Ridgeback National show under Mr Greg Eva (President, Kennel Union of South Africa). I also bred the BIS and RUBISS winners at this show along with the Best Headed Dog and Bitch. In 2012 at the 10th Australian Rhodesian Ridgeback National show under In-Coleum Perdigao (Brazil) with the largest breed entry ever seen in Australia, once again I bred the BIS winner and also the PIS winner. I am the only Rhodesian Ridgeback breeder in Australia to have produced two individual BIS National winners. I have also bred the #1 Rhodesian Ridgeback in South Africa 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013.
Judging History
Currently licenced by the Australian National Kennel Council to judge at Championship Level All Breeds and BIS.
In Australia I have judged in all states and territories including All Breeds/BIS and Breed Specialty shows. I have judged in New Zealand four times including most recently (2013) the Dog and Puppy of the Year final.
United States of America (2004) – Texas KC & Dallas-Fort Worth KC (2000+ entries per show) - Part Gundog (Sporting) Group & Group Specials and Rhodesian Ridgebacks (200+ entries).
Finland (2005) – Lahti International Show (4400+ entries over 2 days) (CACIB’s) Irish Wolfhounds (45 entries), Rhodesian Ridgebacks (49 entries), Bernese Mountain Dogs (90 entries).
South Africa (2006) – Natal Sporting Hound Club Show – Part Group and Group Specials, Highway Kennel Club and Natal Kennel Club – Part Group 6 (including Boerboels) and Group Specials, Group 3 and Group Specials.
Finland (2007) – Lahti International Show (4500+ entries over 2 days) (CACIB’s) Basenji (46 entries), Ibizan Hound (5 entries), Pharoah Hound (10 entries), Australian Terrier (59), Basset Fauve de Bretagne (3), Glen of Imaal Terrier (19).
USA (2012) – Orange Coast Rhodesian Ridgeback Specialty (100+); Western Hound Association of Southern California (Whippets 55; Salukis 62; Irish Wolfhounds 28; Ibizan Hounds 9; Dachshunds {all varieties} 35; Borzois 45; Beagles (all sizes) 25.
